GID and Desire

I've always felt uncomfortable with the "transgender" identity being attributed to a person's desire to change (specifically as it is defined in terms of Gender Identity Disorder). Pretty much everyone wants to change something about themselves, and experiences feelings of inadequacy or self-hate. However, as a trans person, I feel these moments become my identity. In this video I tried to bring to light some of these issues surrounding GID that frustrate me. . . it's sort of hard to explain. . . just watch the video : )

I think its time to rise against this crappy diagnosis - GID is a transphobia-inspired lie created by transphobis people to justify and spread their transphobia - nothing else.

Sure everyone wants to be recognized as the one he/she/* is - whats wrong with this? Thats no reason to pathologize and marginalize anyone - but they do...

@asallen329 Thank you! I wrote the script & did the filming, editing, planning, etc on my own. I just used a flipcam and imovie. . . i sort of figure it out as I go along. I am working to love myself, it's a long journey : )
