@Hubertdelbergue I don't think that LECLAIR is totally unknown. Certainly he is a genius but he was famous as the best violin player oh his time. He did not write a great number of works, but each oh them is a masterpiece. His sonatas for violin are frequently played ans SCYLLA ET GLAUCUS sometimes on the stage !
The French runner-up to BACH's domination would be RAMEAU because of the construction of his music. RAMEAU developed as whole theory of music beginning from the vibration of a simple string. Very interesting. LECLAIR is totally unknown and justice must be made to his genius. I see LECLAIR as more emotional and therefore the French HAENDEL. Or would HAENDEL be the English LECLAIR?
