  • Ok, it doesn't top the original. But Sonic Youth was a well-known band, and if they were the inventors of this song, they would have probably been a too good band. Capatain Beefheart, him, was nearly anonymous when he made that masterpiece called Electricity. And that's the decisive difference.

But Sonic Youth's version doesn't sound as bad as you all say, that's just different. =)

  • Boys, you are all wrong. This song is a welcome counterpart to the masterful original. Enjoy it.

  • It's okay. The vocals are dirt shit though.

  • Sonic youth are quite active actually, and if they play homage in their way to Beefheart, Good! no need for anyone to get up in arms, not all covers are gonna to be better than the original, also some people like certain music, some others, all about perspective and taste in music, or anything else for that matter. Lifes' to short to get angry about it:)

  • xtc's cover of ella guru beats the shit out of this in terms of authenticity but c'mon - it's sonic youth... they did it like sonic youth would do it and it's still decent.

  • I think it's a pretty good cover. Sonic Youth wasn't going to try their hardest to imitate him. It sounds like Sonic Youth covering a Captain Beefheart song.

  • Way to rape a epic song! Fucking wankers.

  • @JeuneDrone Cant even think SONIC YOUTH were better, where are thtey tpoday?

  • @JeuneDrone My God HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT! Cap beef did start the stuff, probably he started acid house asw well

  • It may not be their finest hour, but if the cover exposes others to Beefheart's Electricity, then it serves its purpose.

  • Pictocube.

  • It's funny how the original is older and still sounds more energetic than this poor attempt.
