My friend took this footage on 11/6/09. I've done this dive before and and it's really amazing! No wonder it's rated one of the best dives in the world. It feels like you're in space interacting with an amazing life form. Usually there are more people (over 50) in a circle beaming light upwards. The light attracts plankton (looks like small, wiggling bugs- they can be seen in some of the close-up shots, dancing in the light). The manta rays eat them gracefully. Props to Jacks Diving Locker for taking us out there. I was glad to see all of the diving operations told people to not touch the rays or exhale underneath them. The owner of Jacks Diving Locker started a cool non-profit to protect manta rays, and successfully pushed legislation making it illegal to kill manta rays in hawai'i.

Thank you for posting this video! I did this dive almost 10 years ago, but with this video I was able to share it with my kids today.
