he said once that he played both these sports when he was teenager, but to continue a career of a professional sportsman he had to concentrate on either volleyball or basketball, and he chose as we see volleyball. He commented on it that it was a completely right decision.
Besides, i think that volleyball players are usually taller than those that play basktball. At least in Russia.
