@SangareeCrew actually that is NOT correct....your institution was founded in 1801 but it was know as South Carolina College....the University of Southern Cal was formed before South Carolina College changed its name to The University of South Carolina...while your school is older the original USC name belongs to SoCal.

Ok. So that makes sense.
USC (The University of South Carolina) was founded in the year 1801. The state of California was still a part of MEXICO at that time.......so I would say that we technically have claim to the letters "USC".
So, since only one school can use letters, who is the "real" OSU...Ohio State or Oklahoma State? Who is the real MSU....Michigan State or Mississippi State? Should we call Mississippi State "UMS"?
