Effective Autumn 2012, Columbus State will change its academic calendar from the quarter system to the semester system. Here is what you need to know or do now: * If you will graduate before Autumn 2012, you will not be affected by the conversion. * If you are close to graduation, or if it's possible for you to finish your degree prior to the Switch2Semesters, try to finish. Your advisor can help you map out a plan. * If you don't finish your studies prior to Autumn 2012, you will be impacted by the conversion and considered a "transition" student. * Through this site (and other avenues), transition students will receive timely conversion information, including easy but important steps you will need to follow. * Columbus State is committed to the success of our students and has developed a pledge concerning the Switch2Semesters. If you follow the guidelines listed in the S2S pledge to students, you will stay on track and graduate on schedule.

Video Transcript:

Female Speaker: History has shown us time and time again that we adjust to change.
Male Speaker: When cars replaced the horse and buggy, we adapted.
Female Speaker: And when Justin Bieber topped the music charts, we all survived.
[| Music playing.] Male Speaker: Soon it will be time for
another change. Columbus State is joining lots of Ohio colleges in the switch to semesters.
Female Speaker: A cross-college team has been working hard behind the scenes to make the
transition as smooth as possible. That's because academic calendars, course lesson plans, and credit hour calculations all have to change.
Male Speaker: After all, a semester is 15 weeks long. That's five weeks longer than the current quarter.
Female Speaker: And over 90 percent of all colleges are already on semesters.
Male Speaker: So that means it will be easier to transfer between schools in the future.
Female Speaker: Columbus State students who won't graduate before the switch will need to take a few simple steps to prepare for semesters. You'll be
hearing about those soon. In the meantime, stay on track with classes and don't worry. Male Speaker: That's because the official switch to semesters won't happen until Autumn of 2012. So as long as you graduate by then, the switch won't change anything. Female Speaker: Check out the all the details at CSCC.edu/semesters. Change is coming, but we'll be ready. Stay tuned.
