Not True about immigrants , the real story is it was a TRIBUTE TO BLACK SLAVES , The original study for the Statue of Liberty was based on a design, "Egypt Bringing Light to Asia" and had African features and showed the broken chains at her feet and in her left hand. The caption said that this was the way Bartholdi originally designed her, but he was persuaded by the U.S. to change her appearance.

I would say for us it means to have the freedom to do anything you want in this country.
Liberty to me means standing uo for what is right and fighting injustice.
It is important, because it seperates us from the rest of the world. You can come here with pennies and work hard to become a millionaire.
