Polycarp's Letter to the Philippians is described by Irenaeus as follows: There is also a forceful epistle written by Polycarp to the Philippians, from which those who wish to do so, and are anxious about their salvation, can learn the character of his faith, and the preaching of the truth. (J Stevenson, A new Eusebius [London: SPCK, 1965] p. 120)
This is one quote from the epistle: "Stand fast, therefore, in this conduct and follow the example of the Lord, 'firm and unchangeable in faith, lovers of the brotherhood, loving each other, united in truth,' helping each other with the mildness of the Lord, despising no man."

  • What I like about Polycarp is he speaks the truth and is not a believer in the false trinity. Polycarp clearly knows the Father is God Almighty and God to Jesus.

  • The Canon of scripture that is used today in Catholic circles and had been used my virtually all of Christiandom until the 1500s when the 7 books were eliminated from the Canon to form what is today the Protestant bible was officiall listed by the Catholic Church during the late 4th and early 5th centuries over the course of 3 different Church councils. Prior to the 4th century AD, books such as Revelation, Hebrews and I believe 2nd Peter were in dispute.

  • @meggy8868 I think 99.99percent of muslims are unaware of this letter - if they were aware of it they wouldnt make dopey statements about the gospels being written over a hundred years after Christ.

Hearing this read sure makes me see how much work I need to do on myself.

Everytime I start to judge now days I judge myself to see if I have the right to judge and everytime I get the same wisdom in my heart ,NO I HAVE NO RIGHT TO JUDGE.

    May God bless you sister..

    Brother Phil.

  • So we can conclude, that our Holy Scriptures are compiled very early. Poly Carp 69AD!

  • What is interesting to me is how his words echo so many scriptures that we know his text is our text! Thus putting to rest so much carping as to when the cannon was put together!

  • Thank you for putting this up. I love Polycarp and his letter. He is such a comfort, as are you for reading this. Yahshua bless you dear lamb.
