This is in memory of Thomas Jonathan Jackson, our beloved "Stonewall" who passed away on this day May 10, 1863. With deep grief the commanding general announces to the army the death of Lieutenent General T. J. Jackson, who expired on the 10th instant, at a quarter past 3 p.m. His last words were..."Let us cross over the river, and rest in the shade of the trees" , and he slipped away........... Rest In Peace Gen Jackson.

I visited Manassas battlefield just 2 weeks ago. There stands the Stonewall monument, with the general on his horse, overlooking the field where he and his men won eternal fame. I wish that every American came here at least once in his life time to pay them tribute and to remember that these soldiers fought a just case, for a nation's freedom, no less, no more.

Ahh good old Stonewall. I would have followed that man into the Jaws of hell.

2nd Carolina String Band are the best. We saw them at Gettyburg last year. If you ever get a chance go see them live. You won't regret it. Thanks for posting this.
