Von Cello: discusses Woodstock & plays Star Spangled Banner/Purple Haze

Von Cello started playing his Hendrix influenced rendition of the Star Spangled Banner on cello shortly after the original Woodstock Festival. On the thirtieth anniversary of the festival Von Cello was interviewed by Associated Press about his feelings about Woodstock and his ideas about revolutionizing the cello.

The interview is interspersed with clips of Von Cello playing the Star Spangled Banner at the legendary Kenny's Castaways in New York City's Greenwich Village.

Von Cello, aka Aaron Minsky - one of the leading cello composers of our time - says in this clip, "I always had a dream...that one day kids around the country would be lining up in music stores to buy electric cellos like they used to line up to buy electric guitars". If this ever happens, it will be largely do to the efforts and inspiration of Von Cello!
