  • I had one of those, probably Christmas of '64. I loved it. This stands out from my youth along with a Gilbert Toys James Bond Aston Martin DB5, Vroom bike motor, Vroom car (by Mattel). I would play with it every day.

  • @noellamine Yes, Christmas 1964 was the best Christmas for me. I always wanted that varoom bike motor. Never did get it but my cousin had one. It was a real cool toy.

  • Yes, I'm sure the beach did the Bruiser in for sure!

  • I remember getting this for Christmas in 1965. I Loved that thing, I wonder whatever happened to it. All I have left are a few old Corgi toys

  • Mom probably went on a cleaning spree and tossed it. In my case, I blew it up with an M-80. Stupid move on my part, I ended up paying $400. Thirty years later to get another one.

  • I loved my Big Bruiser! Mom kept telling me not to leave it outside. Alas, someone "toed" it away. It broke my heart.

  • Don't be too broken hearted. You can still pick them up on E-Bay once in a while. Mostly around Christmas Time. Prices are getting hefty these days though. I Saw one last year go for $550. Complete with the box and tools. Joe

  • My parengts took mine to the beach with us-it got salt water and sand in it-big bruiser need another to help him out! The wrecked car toy lasted much longer and I played with it more-went great with my "beer can" Tonkas!

  • Had one back in 1966 this toy was ahead of its time.it worked just like a real tow truck.wish i still had this and all my gas powered cox toys.the good old days

  • @gomangojoe, Funny you would mention that, because I just won one on eBay for $300.00. One of my cousins had it with the truck in which the undamaged left front fender could be replaced with the smashed front fender (he replaced the left front fender with the smashed version!).

  • I hated that car with the damn flat tire. Even when I was a kid I thought, why am I going to put this flat tire on this car when all I'll have to do is take it back off and put the good tire back on? I didn't spend much time playing with that car with the flat tire, but I loved the Big Bruiser though.
