@1mom2james I'm not sure by what you mean if it would sound as good...What kind of mixer do you need? What are you looking to do? What kind of amp? Do you mean a PA amp? What are you looking to do?

Can you plug in an effects pedal for effects like distortion etc or does that throw it off?

you would put effects AFTER the vocalist then into your amp:
guitar -> vocalist -> distortion/pedals/effects -> amp

Hey everyone,
The Vocalist 2 needs some sort of instrument plugged into it to determine what chord to play. It can't be a recording, usually because the drums or many instruments can throw off it's MusicIQ detection. The Vocalist 4 and newest VL3D allows you to set a key, but that setting doesn't change with the type of chords you play. Come in to our store to learn more and see all the models. Thanks!

Hey Jonathan... no it will not alter the sound of the guitar. Its simply a thru jack. The Vocalizer just uses the guitar signal to make the harmonies.
