  • Billions of dollars to achieve somthing that could be done faster with 1950s technology. Government ftl. The impetus for this is something called "prompt global strike," look it up, I don't have the room here to describe it, but suffice to say, an ICBM with a non-nuclear warhead could do the job just as well as this, if not better, but people whine about the Russians thinking we're nuking them. But, otoh, knowing the Russians (the people who invented paranoia), it's not unfounded.

  • and ofcourse its first use wont be to carry travellers and tourists fast to faraway countries and places in order to explore different cultures and civilizations there, but just to carry armed soldiers and bombs straight into the battlefield. humanity ftw

Google "Concorde design flaw," and you will see what I am talking about. Both the wings and fuel tank were found to be seriously vulnerable to collisions with objects, such as the tire chunks that lead to the Concorde disaster in 2000. Aérospatiale knew about these vulnerabilities since the 1970's, however they failed to correct this problem for 20 years, and chose to keep it a secret.
