salam, i'm into video editing too - but only as a hobby...what software do you use, and in your view, would you say the software is really the most important thing?

@electrifrying software is like a car. Gets you from point A to point B. Some cars get you to point B faster than others.
If you're on a race track, you're gonna want the fastest possible car b/c your career depends on how fast you get to point B.
If you're a hobby racer then you'll only spend from your winnings/earnings on upgrading your car but you wont break your bank to do it.
If you're a casual driver than you'll take whatever car you can get.

@leechonfilms
excellent answer :D
I'm in the second category - using cyberlink powerdirector at the moment.
I've heard a lot about final cut pro - but its limited to mac.
Money is not the issue, when software can be free - I'm not suggesting anything suspicious. ;-)

I'd recommend you check out a student version of Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 or CS5. They come for very check via ebay or online retailers.
The adobe suite of products made for both mac and pc.
I'd also recommend you check out the online course I have over at messagemastery-d0t com. I cover all aspects of getting your video prepped and edited.
