@TheKoups Yeah i dont think they wont be able to make it a dual gpu card on just air either but maybe they have some special plan if they ever decided to make it.
Might as well have package an air conditioner and a generator with each card =)

@sniperlif3 yes but the GTX 285 doesn't have the same heat output as the GTX580. thats y i dont think we'll see a dual gpu card with the 580 chip unless its cooled by something better water cooling. thats just my thought
-
@TheKoups Well what about the GTX 285? Didnt people think the similar thing would be true when they made the 295 which was 2 cards pushed together? Now i dont disagree that they probably wont go for a dual GPU card because that wouldnt work very well for them, but it could very well be possible.

nvidia couse it has 3D vision :) physx :D and sli is better =D and i have ati on my rig now but i am gioing to buy 2 gtx 480s =DD

yes that maybe so but the clock speeds are higher all everything so really that 5-10 degrees difference is really not true. the 580 will never find itself as a dual GPU card. 1: power, 2: heat, 3: not cost effective.
The GTX580 is a full length card unless the put a FULL copper water block inbetween 2 "cards" it will never fit, not to mention the heat and weight. you'd be force to have GPU card support brakets.

@TheKoups Yeah it dropped the temp by 5-10 degrees but im still doubting their creation of a dual gpu based off the 580, it draws a lot of power and of course would be hot just as well but hell maybe they will =)

@sniperlif3 yes the 480 has overheating issues lol. but thats now fixed thanks to the new 580. they got rid of those stupid heat pipes and made a "vapor chamber". and b4 anyone say shit yes i know that it works the same way but the "vapor chamber" runs much cooler. And yes the new card still draws alot of power but that power isn't wasted, its used to run DX11 at its highest and Physx and the rest of them. in Heaven 2.0 the 580 got 10-15 more FPS than the 480 (only 1 GPU card, highest setting)
if peeps opened there eyes and ears instead of fighting and being fan boys or girls
just imagine how they would be if those 2 companies worked together they would make a graphics card that you get a :O feeling

@hknp without competition to drive the price down there would be a monopoly on the graphics card market. That would cause really high prices. Also if they merge then they don't have to make the best cards anymore since they would still make profit by selling old cards. But we can always dream :)

nvidia still has physics though, this gives less bottlenecks

@isellcookies1 that can be hacked for ati cards... just slowed down my games with my geforce card so had to tern it of anyways. What I would say is a plus is that 480 will have 3d vision, and thats the only bright side.

u are aware that nvidia is like a year behind, and falling faster. ati will be coming with the 6000 series in like a year i think and nvidia is just coming out with something that may rival some of their 5000 line

@imtihanahmed I am aware of this. However, a year is a long way away and it is right now that we are talking about. If you are to buy a ati 5000 card in a year it will be just as old as a 480 card.
