LATE NIGHT DRUG BUST BY LAPD GANG UNIT ON 7th + WITMER St - DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

TURN VOLUME UP - The LAPD gang unit being polite to the citizens of LA as usual. I lived on 7th st (opposite Witmer) in Downtown LA, on and off for over two years from 2006 - 2008 and this used to be a regular occurrence before the area was cleaned up.
This happened at about 4am one morning, opposite the Mayfair hotel. After the cops had spectacularly busted the dealers, a couple of guys walked past that the cops didn't like the look of so they arrested them as well.
I thought it was a good area despite being woken up nightly by either gunshots or the LAPD. No-one ever hassled me and I always felt safe, even walking home drunk every night at 2am.
You'll notice this hotel in most movies about drugs and hookers (see Wonderland)

@DurskMan It's not too bad now. This was taken years ago. The hotel has new owners who have cleaned it up and most of the dealers and hookers that used to trade out the front are long gone.

You're okay walking around, as long as you're not drawing attention to yourself.

heh, brings back memories. but my area was somewhat close to you, from olympic and alvarado to pico and arapaho(sp?)... most of the time... Though this was over 10 years ago, that place was literally a third world country just f'ing packed with a population of some of the most shady, fucked up, scandalous criminals/addicts/whores I've ever encountered in my existence... just monsters and animals. lucky to be alive.

It still was a hellhole up until a few years ago.

The Rampart Police all started drinking at the Mayfair otel after work and that pretty much stopped all the shit going on.

This was the last drug bust I saw in this area.

Downtown is getting heaps better now too; we even have a Ralphs on 9th between Flower and Hope
