Paxman is on record as saying that he has voted for all the major parties. He says he was a communist at school, and described himself as a socialist when he applied, in his twenties, for the editorship of the Left-wing ‘New Statesman’ magazine.

@maxfm83 In other words he isn't saying trash collectors aren't as important, he's saying as the system currently is they are not actually producing anything, they are merely looting the actual producers. It's not the workers fault, it's the politicians'.
Trash collectors (uk&us) used to be private normally family operations. In both places they were forced to unionize which lead to being made public teetsuckers.

@animesis Real Job. A job that produces a product or service traded for voluntarily by 2 or more parties.
"Unreal" Job - A job that produces a product or service that must be paid for with money taken from a person or group of people, not necessarily voluntarily. (taxes)
In one wealth is produced, in the other wealth that has been produced is stolen from the market it does best in and redistributed normally for lower quality products and or services.

@animesis French attributes for a British institution ? Many people think the second B stands for Bullshit. People are also forced to pay to keep it in business. Aljazeera is free.

I get the feeling by use of the word "quangos" (?) he means less important jobs, rather than NHS staff. Im not sure what jobs are unreal though. Though on personal reflection my cousin has autism yet it takes something like 3 special helpers at school daily, now I agree he needs help but it seems a bit excessive. Its all a mess, the welfare state has been truely messed up.
I would like to see him name the unreal jobs though, you have a point, just who is he talking about.

@animesis Call centers, such as ones run by banks, are not in the public - no, he's quite clearly here referring to the people working in schools, the NHS, sweeping roads, etc.
I don't disagree we should look at staffing levels, but to actually consider those who collect rubbish as 'not doing a real job' or that teachers contribute nothing to society displays a high level of head-in-own-arse ignorance of reality which UKIP supporters seem to have in abundance.

We`d get 30billion back from the EU if we left -annual membership fee, fish stocks. We would also get the rights to trade with the Commonwealth back, and we dont need EU membership to have a free trade agreement. The political EU snuck in through the back door.

I don't affiliate with a party, but I consider myself centrist/centre-left. I am 100% unsure on Europe, but I feel UKIP show the BNP how to be more British without being racist and I totally respect them for that! Good on them keeping away our native neo nazis.
