Winter Park Resort stands out from the rest because of its closeness to Denver. What makes Winter Park unique, other than great skiing?
It's the Rio Grande Ski Train. No other train in America stops only feet from the ski lifts. Through the years, this train has transported thousands of skiers to the slopes. In fact, the Rio Grande Ski Train has been known as "A Denver Tradition For Generations".

@nicholasbreeden The F units quit running in 1988 when the Denver and Rio Grande Western sold the ski train to a private operator. The F units that were last used on the train are now at the Colorado Railroad Museum.

we did this several years ago...had to wait 2 hours for a coal train, I put up a vid of fotos we took. it was an experience that was great...too bad the delay cost us our snowboard lessons...one guy with us had done it once so he was our instant coach:) I managed to survive one run down and just wandered until time to depart...so take the train...great experience and no need to drive a car :)

Exactly 69 years running from Denver to Winter Park, Colorado. I've only seen it once. Sad to see it go. She first started with DRGW F7 units and ended up with Ex-Amtrak F40PHs.
