Secrets of World War II - When Hitler Invaded America
This documentary, part of the Secrets of WWII series, describes Operation Pastorius, in which a U-boat delivered four Abwehr agents to Long Island, NY shore. Their purpose was sabotage; their goal, the United States armaments industry. To aid them in their mission they carried forged papers and a supply of explosives. This film details the intensive planning behind the plot, the training of the operatives, and the circumstances in which they were discovered and captured before they could fulfil their mission.

  • calm down jeeze, i hear u all swearin and stuff but wdf bros calm ur tits it dosnt change history does it

  • 11:15 america waged war to become the worlds first superpower ???? Great Britain was the worlds longest lasting superpower for about 600 years for fuck sake !

  • Now now people, just cause a person has a very strong opinion about something doesn't mean they're smart. Even if they WRITE IN CAPS.

In my opinion the politicians/leaders who start a war should have to fight in it. So many people killed. Humankind loses EVERY damn war we fight.

  • @Jetpack1973 the australian one we get sucked into all the us uk bullshit always have always will

  • @sydneysparky What government doesn't fight for benefits of itself?

  • @djphatz198 You mentioned Ploesti and Schweinfurt particularly :-) Ploesti was raided in Aug 43: the USAAF sustained such huge aircraft and crew casualties (with "no curtailment of production") that they were unable to return until April 44. Schweinfurt was raided also in Aug 43 and again in Oct 43; this resulted in a 34% loss of production, but USAAF casualties were so great that they were unable to make deep penetration raids into Germany at all for five months :-)

  • @djphatz198 Not sure about your "bit off more than it could chew" analogy, but I agree your first two sentences 100 % However, what you describe occurred in the closing stages of the war, so the real damage was done when the German air defences had been overwhelmed and were effectively down and out. Attacks on the Leuna synthetic oil plant, for instance, didn't even begin until May 44 and repairs were started and production resumed to 35% usually within 5 days even into Oct / Nov 44

  • @elrjames777 evening all ! do not forget the allied bombing missions on germany. destroying the oil refineries at Ploesti in romania and the ball bearing plant in schwienfurt. germany could not replace these industries fast enuff before they were bombed again. Also the bombing of hamburg and dresden crush german morale. it was only a matter of time, with the red army entering on one end and the allies on the other. germany bit off more than it could chew !

  • @sydneysparky
