songsmirth is absolutely right. there is usually nothing honorable about war itself, since it's always done for economic or powerhungry reasons. but being in it doesn't mean you can't be as honorable as possible. that's basically sharpe. just take a look at how everything and everyone around him is portrayed as scheming, underhanded, deceitful, ruthless and oppressive. nothing good or true about war. not when the people in power are greedy criminals. that's just the way it is.

@heezysteezy When is murdering another person "honorable?" People you don't even know because you're told to for a purpose you don't really know? Mostly to line other people's pockets? Like Cheney who started a war for himself and his friends. Not for any moral purpose. And he could less that thousands have died or will die. All for power. Even Sharpe understands it's about politics but fighting is all he knows. His "family" is the army and his men. He fights to protect them as he's said
