第16届 洛杉矶 2011 艺术展 今日 中国 陶冬冬 特邀嘉宾 16th Annual L.A. ART SHOW special feature CHINA TODAY with guest speaker Tao Dongdong (lecture begins at past 30:00min into this video. These video footages are low resolution for copyright protection; unfortunately the audio during Tao Dongdong's lecture is also low-resolution, but is still intelligible, and translated into clear English; the background music are from contemporary Chinese music artists, and retains most of its original Hi-Fi recording quality. The sentences spoken are very nuanced, as the translator later told me... very difficult to get the full meaning across; especially considering the translator is an ABC... very impressive. 第16届 洛杉矶 艺术展 今日中国 中国现代 艺术作品 功能介绍 特邀嘉宾 陶冬冬 代表人

Chinese Contemporary Art is amazing stuff! I doubt Tao Dongdong was assigned by the government to do the lecture. His works are complex and harmless, and don't spread any BS by themselves, so he's obviously not on any black list. My view on TDD is that he KNOWS what many of the foreign audiences want to hear - "挂狗头 卖羊肉", and that kind of commentary works as a sales pitch for CCA, and with that, I honestly cannot connect any "狗头 controversy" TDD talks about, to his artworks :o)

  • the paintings in the exhibition were pretty good! I liked most of them : ))

but 陶冬冬 sucked! It was absolutely wrong for the government to send him to give the lecture. he is one of the professors who are good at making the audience doze *yawns*.

ty for uploading this vid! it's the first time I saw a complete Chinese exhibition held in foreign countries! :D

p.s. compared with the artworks in the exhibition, the cool Chinese music u chose 4 the vid impressed me more! well done ^^
