Nad Tatrou sa blýska hromy divo bijú.
Zastavme ich, bratia, veď sa oni stratia, Slováci ožijú.

To Slovensko naše posiaľ tvrdo spalo.
Ale blesky hromu vzbudzujú ho k tomu, aby sa prebralo.

  • Long live your beautiful Country! Greetings and Respect from Ukraine! :)

  • Above Tatras there is lightning, thunders pounding.

Above Tatras there is lightning, thunders pounding!

Let us stop them, brothers, they will vanish, The slovaks will be reborn.

Let us stop them, brothers, they will vanish, The slovaks will be reborn

Our Slovakia has been asleep 'till now.

Our Slovakia has been asleep 'till now!

But the lightning is encouraging him, so he will soon wake up.

But the lightning is encouraging him, so he will soon wake up!

    Pozdrav z Kanady!

  • @bumble2able Really? You feel it tthat way? That is awesome :) It´s been 11 months since your comment, so i guess you have already moved here. I think you already realized how difficult Slovak language is.( Some say that it is most difficult of slavic languages) Did you kind of identified yourself with slovak culture and nature? Let me know, please. I am really interested. Ahoj! :)

  • @Caperpeace Why are there still those stupid nationalits on both sides? Why cant everyone be like you and me? Fuck Slota, fuck all the haters! Greetings from Slovakia! Peace :D

  • @bumble2able Well, its maybe a late response, but Ill translate it for you, at least a rough transaltion:

The thunders over the Tatra strike wildly,

Lets stop them, brothers, they will disappear, the Slovaks will wake up.

    Slovakia has slept for long,

But the thunders wake it up...

It doesnt rhyme, but its translated :P

  • Anyway,we should live together peacefully and be good neighbours.

    Greetings from Hungary:)

  • I like your anthem and it's not a problem that your anthem is based on a common (both Slovak&Hungarian folk song). It proves how similar our cultures are and I think that we should be proud of our common history as well.Your country's very young, but I hope thai it'll have a great future. My only problem is how the Hungarians are treated in Slovakia. However, I hope that it'll change, as most of your people can't identify with extreme political views and the Hungarians'll have real rights there.

  • Hun.kingdom was a common country of Hungarians, Slovaks, Serbs, Croats and Romanians. If it was just a country of Hungarians, then Id be just a useless small country in the middle of Europe, like it is today. Bartók lived 1881-1945 and Slovak anthem was written by Janko Matúška in 1844, Bartók didnt even exist then. watch?v=uEmHhNFrKAY I dont see here any Hun.style. Hun.kingdom was country also of Slovaks, so Slovakia has full right to use its coat of arms, as it is also Slovak history

  • @Slovakdubs We did not live in one country, but you lived in our country, called Hungarian kingdom. The song was collected by Bartók, as a hungarian folk song, and it has typically hungarian style. (Like some transylvanian folk songs) Thats no trouble, slovaks could not create a new coat of arms, and could not find an own symbol, so why would they write an own anthem? Slovaks are "new-hungarians", and they dont want to have individuality. Same symbols.. Thats why I have regrets on you.

  • @sonus89 its based on Slovak folk song- Kopala studienku. check it out, its on youtube. you say that its also a Hungarian folk song? so? we used to be in 1 country for almost 1000 years, influence on each other is very big.... Janko Matúška, when in 1844 composed this song probably didnt even know that there is also a Hungarian version, so who cares...
