Racing A Tahoe

I pulled up to an intersection on a closed course the other day and heard the truck next to me rev his engine, then what I believed to be a riced out Honda next to him rev too.
I revved my engine as well, and when the light turned green I hammered the throttle.
The truck got the jump, but then I started to reel him in before he let off.
From what I saw, he went to shift, then got back on it, but my passenger said he had let off altogether.
Then heading onto the freeway, he took the corner ridiculously fast. My friend was too caught up in the moment to actually catch the Tahoe and its massive body roll.
