  • Just to clarify, I was wrong to talk down on capitalism. Capitalism is the way to go, it's corporatism that brings the problems I describe...

  • I think its cool you made a vid and all but what are you talking about that "the illusion of yourself can die but how important is that really" Im going to go out on a limp and say...pretty fucking important since its the only one you have. that is if you love your self and love life. unless you have a deathwish than I could see why someone would say that

  • : ) Haha. What I'm saying is, you're going to die. You may as well accept that fact, but that doesn't mean nothing matters, it simply means that everything you identify with is temporary.

Everything is temporary but the consequences of our actions will echo in the halls of eternity. This is where we can make room for our own purpose.

  • liked that you mentioned the "sphere of influence". to me anyway, that is the central point. it reminds me of another more contemporary book, sounds a little cheesy, but refutes a lot of the notions of pop psychology: "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People." lots on aligning yourself with that which u can control.

have 2 pick @ your comment on the "capitalism meme," though. perhaps the current meme has distorted the ideal but I believe capitalism 2 refer 2 the non-initiation of force.

  • If that's your understanding of it I have no problem with a lack of force initiation. I meant to attack our current economic and social structure. If we have a shot at sustainability we have to change completely in the way we live our lives.

Maybe it would have been better to say it's the prominent modern meme which is too successful for its own good.

Thanks for your thoughts, man. I like the way you see things.

    Ahh.

I'm currently reading 'The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying'... It is beautiful thus far... I believe you would enjoy the thoughts in such book. That being said, I think that you have thought all the thoughts that have been taught in that specific collection of words... ;-)

  • @Monolith1618 ah yes, thanks for the reply

  • I have not read the book but sounds like I would like to.

Fear of death is fear of life. Death naturally comes to all and once one realizes this they have nothing to fear which makes one truely free.

Success is shown in our relationships with other people and the Earth around us. I hope one day humans will get away from measuring success thru accumulation, which can lead to the cause of others suffering and there can be no joy in the suffering of others.
