This video, created in 2007, is part of the "Beyond the Shadows: Making of the Game" DVD that was included only with the Special Edition of The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™. It gives a deeper look into how the landscapes and landmarks of Middle-earth were created for LOTRO.

  • 'everyone has their own vision of what their reading looks like' - this is very true and this is what makes the game so great, if it was based on the films it wouldnt be half as good

  • one thing that's annoying: Many places that actually seem to take file space in this game seem to be unaccesable, even if they could easily not be. I mean, I wouldn' mind to be able to go into the centre of the bree land, Forchel, Northern Ered Luin, Or just some random place in the middle of some mountain hill even if there would be no content. o__o

  • what would tolkien say if he was here?

  • @RGBRYN ww1 not ww2

  • Well you did get it right guys ;

    :)

  • this really makes me appreciate lotro a lot more

  • you guys did fantastic...especially Rivendell and Moria, I was completely blown away (though I haven't seen Lorien or Mirkwood yet....soon! I can't wait to see them :D) My only comment is - it would be nice to see Lindon (north of Ered Luin) open up as a playable location, maybe a high level quest area? and North Mirkwood, I heard isn't playable :( such a shame!

  • Amazing! the concept artists truly did an amazing work. I love the art work in lotro!

  • @randomepicperson looks like a concept art version of the Last Homely House in Rivendell.

  • As a player since SoA launch, I can definitely tell you, Mr. Bednar, you guys got it right. :)
