Wheeler Peak is the highest peak in New Mexico... and it is almost a 14er! The trial-head begins in Taos Ski Valley and as you hike, you overlook Taos Ski Resort. It is a great hike in beautiful Northern New Mexico!

  • I wish we would have camped... I have a friend who camped on the summit actually. How cool would that be to wake up at the top of New Mexico???!!!

  • Hey! We started in the Ski Valley. You can either start there or go up to Williams Lake. The trailhead form the ski valley is like 6 one-way, so 12 round-trip. The Williams Lake way is shorter, but steep!!! We like to go in July because the trail are clear and it warms up. Def try it!

  • Where did you start? Had your mom and you did not accidentally detour, what would have been the total mileage roundtrip? 7 miles? I When did you go? I would like to go.

  • looked like fun. Hopefully I can hike it for the first time this summer. Did you camp anywhere?
