In September 2008 Drew Struzan announced his retirement from illustration. Between 1975 and 2008 he created movie poster artwork for more than 180 movies. This is only a small selection of some of his poster work. See how many you're familair with and maybe see some surprises.
I cut everything together to Jerry Goldsmith's fabulous piece 'Fireworks'. Please feel free to rate and comment on this video.

  • Great! Do you know what music this is? It sounds like Jerry Goldsmith. I've never heard this and I love it! Thanks!

  • Hi,

Well as you can read on the end credits, the music is by Jerry Goldsmith. It's a concert piece he composed in 1999 when he was turning 70, written for a huge celebration for LA. You can find it on the Telarc CD: Jerry Goldsmith - Christus Apollo, CD-80560. The CD also has his Christus Apollo piece and Music for Orchestra. A must have.

  • ...Back when movie posters were still good!!!!

  • wait the last poster he did was hell boy 2? Damn that movie was lucky then!

  • Anyone know who did the poster for "Army of Darkness"? It's very Struzanesque.

Also, can it be verified that each of these posters were painted by Drew Struzan? He has been falsely credited for a lot of pieces made by artists with a similar style. (John Alvin's "Willow" poster, for one.)

  • I wonder if they will update his oeuvre or his movie poster books, cuz I haven't bought them yet.

  • drew struzan is legend

  • They just don't make movie posters anymore like they did in the 70's and 80's...
