hey you the prophet already said and so does the quran of the 72 sects that will be formed from islam, and quite frankly despite all these differnces we are all part of the muslim ummah and we should respect this diversity in our community and learn to live peacefully  and you should be more tolerant ffor the peace of the muslim ummah.

The prophet fasted to set an example to all the muslims of the time that this is how you should control your mind and body to be able to develop taqwa.

Ismailis have through their continuous dhikr and ibadat are meant to have developed this taqwa. those who have not or would like to give up something like smoking etc would use this to help them

The prophet taught us that we should all live dignified lives in which diversity is valued through pluralism where everyone has access to the same opportunities, DO WE ALL FOLLOW THIS.

So many muslims smoke, drink indulge in drugs etc. Surely this isnt permitted by Islam why dont you tell them that.

so you said interpret the faith and guard what is original. the first five pillar. most of them are ignored. what agha khan does is help people. but his AKED also operates on interest. which he thinks is ok. but in the quran is haram. read the quran. sunnah of prophet mohammad is original.

The Prophet Muhammad fasted. So shouldn't all Muslims do the same?

No we are not. Many of us from the Indian Subcontinent like those of other Muslim Sects will have bee converted into Islam by Preachers such as Pirs and Dais and Khwajas. This was emminent in Pre Mughal and also during the Mughal Sultanate.

We belong to the Shia Imami Ismaili Nizari branch of Islam. We have a present living Imam that traces his ancestry to the Prophet Muhammad. Imams are there to be the guardians of Allahs message to interpret the faith. To stop people from misusing the faith.

Ismailis do fast but this is optional. We have our daily prayers and on top of that our obligation to be in constant humility to and in dhikr of allah.

Fasting is an obligation placed on the Early Muslims as a method of developing self control and taqwa. It is understandable that although needed by some, many ismailis will have developed self restraint and taqwa through their daily activities (dhikr) so we arent required to fast during the month. Only if we feel its necessary.
