Very helpful.

No one ever shows a kid how to play first base. Notably, this video covers necessary foot and glove work. Thank you. Unfortunately, it doesn't go into some things that may be considered too advanced, e.g., handling throws behind the runner from the catcher, etc.

There is way too much foot movement in this video for my taste. I plant the outside of my right foot flush against the inside of the bag. It becomes the foundation of my support since I can plant my full body weight against the bag and know that I'm not going to slip off/over the bag if/when I have to shift my weight, change direction and/or dig a ball out of the dirt. I'm 6'4 and this method really lets me feel comfortable to put my hand on the ground and stretch super far out if necessary.

boy those dirt balls are the scariest thing in softball to mee. i took balsl in the chin from the fastest female pitcher in our league but didn't flinch until those bad hoops came. not until i get my mouth guard i can take a brused lip.
