is oral consious sedation the same as having laughing gas?
I have extreme anxiety especially where the dentist is concerned. I have also had bad experiences especially lately trying to get a very bad ( and very painful) tooth pulled it has a huge hole and also a cavaity on it which makes it hurt so much.
ALL someone has to do it touch it and it wrenches with excrutaiting pain.
I am deathly afraid to have this done. I am going in afew days oral surgeon any suggetsions?

What sedative was it? a massive Benzodiazepine?

We use triazolam a type of short term benzodiazepine. The half life is only 2.5 hours with inactive metabolites, so it works well and wears off quickly. It is also reversible. Why do you ask?

hello, I was wondering what would happen to me in my situation, I have a tooth broken off at the gum line and its now rotten due to my stupidity of not going to the dentist after it broke. I know its going to be pulled but I'm so scared that they are going to slice my gum open to get in there. can you shed some light on the situation???

If your tooth is broken to the gumline we have to gain access to it. the incision is not exactly slicing it open. It is necesary to probably reduce some bone around the tooth after opening it up. There should not be any pain associated with it since it is completely numbed up. I hope this helps but it is done all of the time. Where is your tooth in yourmouth?
