Walt Disney's "Fantasia" contained a rather long section from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker. This one has his team's presentation of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", "Chinese Dance", and "Dance of the Mirlitons". Fantasia hit the silver screen in the year 1940, and has become a Classic of the Motion Picture Arts. Music by the Philadelphia Orchestra under Leopold Stokowsky.

Acccording to the announcer on the film, these are taken from the Nutcracker Suite, which was much of the music from the ballet. He said that Nutcracker Suite was Tchaikovsky's least liked work, yet it has become one of his most popular pieces. He also said that the ballet is no longer performed. I gusss he had never heard of the Bolshoi and the Kirov, at the time, or the Mariinsky today.
