This is song is so after the dream is over and yer tring to wake up but yer not in that light zone...yer in that darker groggy zone that drunks revel in most of their lives and you can't wake up becuase the amniocentesis says you still owe money to some collection agent in timbuk3 and even if yo were on strike 22 you still have to pay it back even if there were no Sex Crime Laws - which abortion orginally was but gave birth to its cousins tier I, Tier II and Tier II etc etc etc.

If you don't love this song and Phil singing it, than I can't even imagine why you listen to the dead. For me this is the special treat that makes the difference between great and Smokin' hot killer. Case in point, Phil did Tom's Thumb in Boca at the end of Furthur tour, that really put it on the next level for me.

Robbie Robertson's great tune has become a Dead/Phil & Friends/Furthur standard. And with good reason.

I was also at this show and something about this song really hit home. Alot of personal things around that same time. Great memories. Remember them performing this song like yesterday.

@rpatrick100 nice
peaking
I remember this show very well. Sting opened but ran off the stage when the lightening started. Massive lightening in all directions. They eventually cleared the field and I upgraded my seats during the flood of people back onto the field. The Dead opened with Touch of Grey and the crowd went insane every time 'we will get by/we will survive' was sung. I remember I peaked during Broken Arrow. Wow...amazing insights. This show and this song will always hold a very special place in my heart
