Update Feb 2011: He was cantering in the arena on the longe at will. He ruptured the left front leg tendon running behind the PASTERN.. in the middle. Behind the pastern had looked swollen for a week. What this has to do with navicular I don't know! Within 1 hour he was ultra sounded. Extremely lame. Put to sleep immediately. Tendon nearly completely torn through! He was a very sweet horse, and his owner loved him very much, hadn't ridden him for a long time, yet never complained! 12 year 17.2h Oldenburg gelding. Lame for 5 years. Grew up living in 24 hour turnout, light work 3 days a week, began work at age 3. Was barefoot until showing lameness signs at age 7. Was on 2 gm of bute for months. No results. Recent xrays show large vascular channels in both naviculars. Now wearing aluminum wedge shoes. Has been shod with wedge pads. Club-ish foot on Lt fore, right is low heel. Quite sore, doesn't want to move without adrenaline to encourage. Turned with 3 other horses after this video and ran a lot. Next day was much looser, and reached forward more with Lt fore. Will try another technique.. remove the shoes, 3-10 removed shoes. Quite a difference in body movement. They had raised him onto his toes so much he couldn't move properly. Had mashed feet and bruising at the toe. Nov 2010 had him nerved. He actually moves around now, instead of standing in one spot. When his feet land, they land with more force!
does ur horses just doesnt want to move. I will go out to the field and somertime my gelding just wont move til he is made to. Then he walks very bad both front feet seem to be affected. Any comment would be appricated Thanks Sue

This is similar to what I have been experiencing with my horse. I've pulled his shoes and put him on Cipex. I've seen slight improvments just after a couple of weeks. Something you might want to consider trying. It's less expensive than a lot of other options out there. Good luck with your horse!
