Nickel Creek single from Nickel Creek album Reasons Why..

Video uses the word "Nickle" which is a European Wood Pecker, sorry but while I was putting this together I had Wood Peckers on my mind...

Lyrics:

Where am I today? I wish that I knew
'Cause looking around there's no sign of you
I don't remember one jump or one leap
Just quiet steps away from your lead

I'm holding my heart out but clutching it too
Feeling this short of a love that we once knew
I'm calling this home when it's not even close
Playing the role with nerves left exposed

Standing on a darkened stage, stumbling through the lines
Others have excuses, but I have my reasons why

We get distracted by dreams of our own
But nobody's happy while feeling alone
And knowing how hard it hurts when we fall
We lean another ladder against the wrong wall

And climb high to the highest rung, to shake fists at the sky
While others have excuses, I have my reasons why

Bridge:
With so much deception it's hard not to wander away
It's hard not to wander away
It's hard not to wander away

  • The female singer is really good, probably because she doesn't make her voice wobble like 99% of female singers today.

  • I think the major problem with vibrato is most singers wield it like a Viking battle axe. Some do integrate vibrato with subtlety and finesse though...

  • @cptcosmo good point, you are taught to do vibrato early on, on the fiddle anyway, to "make a good tone" but sometimes it is better without, you need to learn where it is appropriate and where it isn't . I was never taught that myself..

  • a very nice song.. i always want to hear this music every day...

  • AMAZING

  • i love them they are so awesome this is my favorite song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Classically trained singers sing with vibrato, but even being a classical musician myself & hearing those singers, I still haven't quite gotten used to it. Basically, you can get a fuller sound with vibrato, but it's somewhat of a technique to avoid having to keep perfectly in tune when you sing with a straight tone (same with violinists when they add vibrato). :-P

  • It's called a vibrato. and I hate it when people do that. It's supposedly very good if you are able to do it, but I don't think it's a nice sound, so I fully agree with you :*

  • Every Year Grammy nominated but all they get is to jam with everbody but they do jam with the greatest in the world.Alison Krauss produced and that should say enough
