It's the 25th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which began as a 1984 black and white underground comic book by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird which in its first issue somewhat parodied Frank Miller's Ronin and Daredevil comics among other things (while undeniably managing to be its own thing anyway, eventually exploring storylines of great depth), and went on to become probably the biggest international cultural phenomenon of the '90s through cartoons (which began in 1987), live-action movies and pretty much every single form of merchandise known to man. The TMNT made a return to the public eye in the new millennium with a new cartoon in 2003, sticking closer to the comics than the 1987 show did (for four seasons, anyway, which is a lot for a cartoon), and a CGI movie in 2007. Whether you prefer the original, red-masked, violent yet introspective turtles, the multicolored, pizza-loving, catchphrase-spitting turtles, or the various mixed interpretations, there is one thing we all can agree on: It better not be over yet. Y'all know what time it is.

Oh, and I made the song by the way, but I don't claim copyright.

LYRICS
"Dudes and dudettes,
major league butt kicking is back in town!" "Oh yeah!"
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"
"Heroes in a half shell! Turtle power!"
"You must strike hard, and fade away..."
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"
"Be ready...for anything!"

The story starts in the 1980's in Japan,
where a slightly shady ninja clan
forced a shamed, dishonored, beaten man
to pack his bags, grab his rat and leave the land.
He was safe in New York, or so he thought,
but he was stalked, and he got caught.
Blood on the door. Face on the floor.
The rat would now face harder days than before.
While searching the sewers for something to eat,
the rat sees four turtles fall from the street,
along with a canister of mutagen.
The turtles won't ever be cute again.
The rat took them in and raised them as sons,
taught them Ninjutsu and gave them weapons.
They're mean. They're green.
You'd do best not to intervene!

Give 'em hell! Give 'em shell!
Give 'em a story they won't live to tell!
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"
"Heroes in a half shell! Turtle power!"
Give 'em hell! Give 'em shell!
Give 'em a story they won't live to tell!
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"
"I love being a turtle!" "It's ninja time!"

Leo commands. Mike plays games.
Raph kicks butt. Don takes names.
Live by Bushido, reside in the sewer;
Warriors - ain''t none truer!
They have little trouble wrecking the day
for anyone dumb enough to get in their way.
They're mean! They're green!
Touch that dial and lose your spleen!

"We strike hard,
and fade into the night."
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"
"Heroes in a half shell! Turtle power!"
"COWABUNGA!"
"I am so gonna enjoy this."
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"
"I love being a turtle!" "It's ninja time!"

  • That's you singing?

You actually sound a little like Cam Clarke, there's a little Leonardo and Rocksteady coming through in your voice at times, it fits really well!

  • @Kooptroopa That's me rapping.

I sound like Cam Clarke? Interesting. I can actually do some TMNT-related impressions (Shredder and Krang are probably my strongest ones), but I've never noticed myself sounding like Leo. I might be able to pull off Rocksteady, but Bebop's easier (and doesn't hurt my throat).

  • @Swenglish Really, especially during the "You'd do best not to intervene" or "anyone dumb enough to get in their way" lines, I can just picture your voice shouting "Come on, gang! We've got to save April!"

Faved the song, by the way. It rocks.

  • @Kooptroopa Fascinating. I always figured my voice would be more in the Michaelangelo or Donatello area, as it's a bit all over the place.

  • O.O OMG I have to ask, can my TMNT RPG use this MP3 for our site's trailer? This is simply EPIC...

  • @LadyAkumaProductions Sure, go right ahead, but I'd appreciate being credited (so people can find my stuff). :) And do feel free to post your trailer as a video response to this video, so I can check it out:)
