  • @Retrotv Having to compete head-to-head with both of them heavyweights,is it any wonder?

  • ABC also had:

Bruce Forsythe's Hot Streak (which replaced ASB after a 2-week holiday hiatus in very early 1986 and also the 1st of 2 Reg Grundy shows that did not air on NBC)

Double Talk (Bob Stewart's revival of Shoot for the Stars)

Bargain Hunters (a piss-poor TPiR rip-off that Peter Tomarken later called "a piece of $%&*!")

and 3 years after Bargain Hunters ended, there was the 1990-91 version of "Match Game" w/ Ross Shafer, which was not ABC's final daytime GS to date.

  • I like the think music at 1:52. This was a good show and I watched it every day.

  • This and Talkabout were the only shows on which USA network edited out fee plugs. A few 1987 episodes of Scrabble rerun on USA also saw edited out fee plugs.

  • "Why did USA Network replace The ABC Parting Gifts with those advertisements?" I actually thought this was from ABC, but it was USA Network instead, like (Trivia Trap) this game didn't do tell well against TPIR and WOF as well.

  • Wow, Merrill Heatter went through TWO variations of Hollywood Squares just to realize he was just ripping himself off. This show was poorly thought out, the puzzles were not all that hard, although the puzzle reveal concept I liked (but done before). The bonus round also was an indication that the show was playing on Wheel of Fortune's success, and obviously failed. All that on top of an ugly set and dumb theme music, no wonder why ABC was first to quit daytime game shows after a year.

  • John Matuszak is the guy who played Sloth in The Goonies! Badass...
