Zawinul had only a few weeks left to live at the time of this performance (he was dying of cancer) but this is an incredible testament to his Spirit and Will. Zawinul is a genius and a musical visionary. Born and raised in Austria (under Nazi rule)- learned to play like Art Tatum, moved to the states and played with the top boppers and eventually developed his "One World" musical vision of unity. His was a profound journey. He lives forever.

The music IS Zawinul. There's nothing like it. I mean how do you WRITE some of these songs? Inspiration from above comes to mind, As long as we are listening, he's alive as any of us.
