This short animation shows how the room temperature vulcanization (RTV) process is used to create a molded part using an RTV mold. RTV mold making is a process used to generate a tool to create short runs of around twenty five castings of a given master pattern.
Room Temperature Vulcanization (RTV) molding is ideal for products whose final production material is going to be a plastic injection molded resin. A stereolithography (SLA) propotype is typically used for the RTV molding pattern. RTV mold materials include liquid silicone rubber and urethane / polyurethane.
The animation shows how the process works.
