This lovely blonde actress was spotted by a Warner Brothers talent scout in the early 40s, and like her contemporary Martha Vickers, (they appeared together in supporting roles in "The Man I Love", (1947)), she was a popular wartime pin-up and is best remembered for her supporting role in a Bogart/Bacall film - she played Mme Hellene de Bursac in "To Have And Have Not" (1944). Originally intended to be Bogart's love interest in the film, her role was reduced in favor of Bacall, although Moran did have a romance with director Howard Hawks during filming. Her other notable roles were in "Old Acquaintance" (1943), and "The Horn Blows At Midnight" (1945). During the production of "Christmas Eve" (1947), she became involved with producer Benedict Borgeaus and they married in 1952, had one son, and after that her career faltered, and she appeared only in her husband's films when she wasn't battling health problems. Her last film was "Silver Lode" (1954). She and Borgeaus divorced in 1962. Like Vickers again, Moran showed promise early on, but her career never really recovered from marriage and poor choices. And like Martha, Dolores was fated to die relatively young. She passed away on February 5, 1982 but the cause of her death was never publicly disclosed. Her role in "To Have And Have Not" is an effective one, and she had the kind of alluring husky voice (not quite on par with Bacall's, but with an interesting quality all its own), and excellent screen presence. Makes you wonder what might have been. I used "Solitare" by Tony Bennett as the background music. Enjoy!
She was lovely.....no matter what.

@CDU916 I agree with what you said, except for the "individual looking" part. I watch tons of movies from the '40s, and I have to see an actress in at least five movies before I can tell her apart from all the other glamorous blondes. Janis Carter, Evelyn Ankers, Martha Vickers, Audrey Long, Constance Dowling, Leslie Brooks, Brenda Joyce, Lynn Merrick are all lovely ladies, but I still can't tell one from the other sometimes.

Women were so beautiful back then and much more individual looking than the starlets of today are. The emphasis seemed to be on looking classy rather than trashy. It's sad that we now live in a world that leaves nothing to the imagination. Sex is so much sexier when it's implied rather than blatant.
