(cont'd) I'd never read the story in any of the books & articles about him , but we got interrupted by an autograph-seeker, and I forgot to ask if he'd gotten those photos. A few months later, a package arrived for me, from Hollywood. It was a videocassette of this show, several months before it aired on TV. There was the story, and there were the photos of him in the river!
So it's very possible that I'm partly responsible for this story coming to light and being shared with the world!

Funny thing about that "drunk in the river" story. In 1992, Dudley played some piano concerts in Toronto, and I saw one of them, sent him a note, and 2 days later, we met for brunch in the posh restaurant where he'd done the concerts. We talked & laughed for 2 1/2 hours, like old friends. During which, I told him about my first legal drink, and he said, "Oh, I'd forgotten all about this---" and told me the story of the first time he got drunk. And it was the story in this video.

Aside from a Smithwick's, my first drink at the British pub was a Pimm's. And I too got drunk *that* night. :)

I think he was a great entertainer, besides musician and actor. And he deserves to be recognized by the showbiz in general.
