i just watched a video of the 2006 olympic champion and i gotta say that even though tanja only placed 6th in this competition, i think her performance is WAY better than the girl who won the olympics in 2006

tanja had a great career, despite all his health problems, she remains the last german female skater to be medaled at the european and the world championships. How can we forget her performance at the Grand Prix Final 1997 ?... and after her skate life, she became a successful actress in germany . WOW !!!

@ja3399 she got sick before the 97-98 season but had a phenomenal comeback, almost defeating Tara Lipinski. I think she stopped skating again due to health concerns; she had a somewhat successful career as a model and actress in Germany, most recently playing a figure skater in a reality show.

I seem to remember that Tanja was struck down with a terrible virus that kept her off the ice for a long time. But I can't remember when this happened. My VHS tapes deteriorated, and/or got lost during the course of several moves. Tanja had such a long, lovely body line, and a special feeling for music that she was able to communicate. Whatever happened to her after she disappeared from competitive skating?
