  • I oppose the war in Iraq, but it's too late to leave now. If you pull out, Russia will move in and take hold of the oil resources. America was doomed from the get-go with the war strategy and I think it will be the downfall of the American way of life. The U.S. is already collapsing and I don't think there is anything that can be done.

  • @playadominical Oh People have been say that America is doomed doomed doomed since 1776.

  • @nyomythus america will eventually fall. it's happened to all other dominant cultures throughout history, and usually it occurs from within. i'm not a hater, i actually think america was a great country, but it is on the downslope now.

  • @playadominical Maybe maybe, but those other dominant cultures were not conceived from Enlightenment principles, but ya we do have our domestic and foreign foes .. gotta keep a hard-hard thumb down on those cockroaches ... if we value the survival of Liberalism, it's a plain often not so pretty truth I think.

  • @playadominical One policy does not make for the rise or fall of any entity, only through consistent lack of management and declining tax revenues and overspending of resources do empires and governments fall. Oh wait, .....=)

  • Is it just me or is the host ignoring the Hitch?

  • @ScientificExploits Took twice as long as he promised...But yeah, they're still out.

  • Hitchens always looks constipated lol

  • Well, he kept his promise. The troops are out.

  • @playadominical If a country fits certain criteria, then intervention should be expected.

    1. Potential misuse for WMDs

    2. Harbouring terrorists

    3.Occupying another countries territory.

    4.Genicide

    Iraq met all four

  • @moroney1 what criteria? mugabe doesn't qualify? 9/11 wasn't caused by Iraq, as you well know, and the fact they praised the attacks isn't a reason to invade. everybody knows the reason Iraq got invaded when they did is because it was good opportunity for america to go in there and seize power. but the reality of the situation isn't palatable to the press and the avg citizen, so the powers that be made up a b.s. story to convince americans they were over there doing the right thing.

  • @playadominical Thanks for responding to me, I appreciate that.

Id argue completely against the statement that it was a local matter due to the the occurence of 9/11 and the potential for similiar attacks as well as the praising of them, or the continual persuit of Kuwait or the ambitions of WMDs and its flippancies, using them on about 180,000 Kurds.

Id also state that Hussein was different to the ''plenty of other dictators'' as he met all four criteria that would justify intervention

  • @moroney1 besides the fact that the government lied about the reason for the war, i think the U.S. had no business going over there to interfere in what was essentially a local matter. the U.S. only went in there because it was believed it would help the country financially. if it weren't for oil, there would have been no push to take out the dictator, since there are plenty of other dictators out there who the U.S. seem to tolerate those dictators don't have anything worth taking.
