'The Surrey With The Fringe On Top' - jazz piano tutorial. This is a much more straight ahead approach. The bass and drums backing was created in PGmusic's 'Real Band' using their Real Tracks add on. I am very impressed by the authenticity of the acoustic bass which is created not just as one note samples, biut actual phrases played by a jazz player on an acoustic instrument that are somehow cobbled together when the chords are typed in to make a very realistic bass track. You can download and practise with the backing track and leadsheet from my website
http://www.bushgrafts.com
where I have uploaded this video, the leadsheet that I used, an MP3 file of the bass and drums backing, and a midi file of my improvised piano part. On my DVD is the full printable transcription of the piano part - details are on my website
In the thirds from E flat major sowing at 1:56, why did one note lack the third?

Wow! great rendition...... I played bass professionally back in the sixties and seventies until I got caught up in the boatbuilding profession. I'm just amazed how good the bass sounds,my style of playing.
It's wonderful to see all tthis technology being put to creative use. Surry with a fringe on top is great to play in the jazz idiom. Just love the Blossom Derie version with Jack Parr.
Again you are doing wonderful work .
