"Across ancient bridges
Through a town with no name
Across painted hills that
No rich man can claim
Run the wild mustangs
That nothing could tame
On your first flash of freedom"
This Allmanesque 6/8 tune is quickly becoming my favorite on Mojo. The band is sooooo tight. The dual lead by Mike and Scott might make you flash on Duane and Dickey.Mike's new '59 Les Paul Custom replica screams. Had fun recording this live on a point and shoot Panasonic Lumix ZR-1 in 720p with 8x optical zoom, both hands over my head (or one hand when it jitters, sorry, had to rest one arm and then the other!!) on the Heartbreakers Mojo Tour at The Gorge Amphitheater on June 12, 2010. Tom Petty (guitar, lead vocals), Mike Campbell (lead guitar), Benmont Tench III (keyboards, vocals), Scott Thurston (harmonica, guitar, keyboards, vocals), Ron Blair (bass), Steve Ferrone (drums, percussion).

  • Lumix ZR-1, you say... not bad!!!

  • @hoof32 Thanks! Folks in front of me with waving arms made autofocus the only choice, but occasionally total blockage throws it off. I guess I could have edited it out, but opted not. Audio needed to be re-eq'd and normalized to warm the low end and brighten the high end without overdriving the middle. The little built in mic isn't the best, but better than a cell phone. Biggest flaw in the camera is 8.5 minute video limit even with 8GB chips (33 min). Had two 8GB chips, got 12 of 18 songs.

  • I believe Mike and SCOTT play that lead....

  • @donwan67 It appears that all three have parts in the section around 4:35 with M and T doubling a short part, then T dropping into something on the e while Scott can be heard (off stage left) playing a counter. Thanks for the heads up. Sure sounds great regardless.
