Ustaad Ranbir Singh teaches Taus and Dilruba at Raj Academy.

Ustaad Ji is a very fluent expressionist of all the styles of the Sikh Music. He is gifted in rendering Dhrupad to Khyal, and light music to traditional folk music of North India.

In this video he is seen playing a beautiful rendition of Raag Asa Kafi on the Taus.

  • nice, is this his own composition?

  • I'm not entirely sure but i think it maybe, because the style in which he plays is definitely unique to him.

  • probably the best taus player around!

  • I play the tabla but I just bought a taus, and it sounds more like the human voice then any other instrument. And this guy is simply stunning. Bit expensive but I would definetley reccomend getting one just for the beautiful tone it produces

  • now that is a shame!

  • absolutely amazing.

  • kiddddan meet ??? main v sikhna taus....

  • Overall Taus is a bigger instrument and louder, whilst the dilruba is a miniature version. I myself dilruba player have found that Raj Musical Dilrubas are very loud. Speaking generally, dilrubas get louder the more you practice on them. Taus will give you a loud sound from the first time you play it providing it is well tuned.

  • india....punjab particularly...some say it was made by Guru Gobind Singh Ji while some say he popularized it

  • India, its predominately used in by Sikhs during kirtans (prayers) but you won't here it often though now a days!

  • beautiful is there much difference between dilruba and taus?

  • i wana learn taus! it has a beautiful sound! : )

  • what country was the taus made in?

  • raag asa kafi
