"Aandhi" is a 1975 Indian movie supposedly based on then prime minister Indira Gandhi's life, but in reality, It was inspired by Tarkeshwari Sinha, apart from Indira Gandhi. It was directed by Gulzar. The movie is noted for its songs composed by Rahul Dev Burman, written by Gulzar and sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.

The movie was not allowed a full release as the similarity to Mrs Gandhi's life held it up while she was in power. After her loss in the 1977 elections the ruling Janata party cleared it and had it premiered on national television.

Along with Mukesh and Mohammed Rafi, he dominated Indian film playback music from the 1950s to the 1970s. Kumar also achieved notable success as a lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenwriter and scriptwriter.

Kishore Kumar was a prolific vocalist and sang in many Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam and Oriya. In October 1987, he died following a massive heart attack. He had been married four times and is survived by his two sons Amit Kumar, who made his career in playback singing in Bollywood and Bengali films, and Sumit Kumar.

  • all time favr8.

  • Love it···················

  • Sanjeev Kumar, the pride of Bollywood.

  • It was worthy to wait kishore's turn of the song, it's mesmerising tone voice.

  • I read somewhere that when this song was being composed, Gulzar-saab wanted to add some dialogue within the song. RD Burman-saab chided Gulzar-saab saying "Do you have any idea of sur and taal? You cut in with your dialogue anywhere you want. It's not done!" But, ultimately, Gulzar-saab had his way and this is where Sanjeev Kumar sadly describes the new moon, leading to the wonderful verse "Ji mein aata hai tere daaman mein...". An all-time classic song!

  • This song achieved the heights of creativity that are rare ... poetry ... music ... singing ... everything!
