"Aldi" stands for "Albrecht-Discount". Karl and Theo Albrecht are the two brothers who founded it.

i didn't know about the missing son. but they do advertise in germany, just not on tv, only leaflets.

and regarding to aldi germany is still divided, because the brothers do not like each other we have aldi north and aldi south.

and yeah i have never seen a picture of any "aldi"-family member...

My mom is a owner of one of the stores here in Missouri. The reason they don't have advertising is because the people who made the aldi stores didn't believe in advertising. Everyone wonders why its called Aldi, its because the owners son's went missing, and so they wanted to start an organization, for low prices and such almost for contributing to a fund to get their boys back, they are known as the aldi brothers, in pictures you will NEVER see their faces..
