...this is the HIGH SCHOOL state meet. Tell me how often you see a high school junior run in the 47's. Thats not a time you go "eh not bad" to...unless your in D1 track which doesnt seem doable when your in high school.

hey, the only guys in the world who ran a 47 400H last year were the medal-winners at the olympics, just letting you know.
47's extremely respectable and that closing speed is even more so.

@mxseven7 Over the few years in high school your body matures an incredible amount. Leaving the door wide open for "average" athletes with a combination of hard work and maturity to become amazing athletes in such a small period of time.

i have raced against zach in the mile and talked to him on several different times in track and cross country. i go to backer schools which is right by buffalo and we're both in the mississippi 8 conference. he told me he didn't run a 6 minute mile until 8th grade. but look at him now. GO ZACH!! haha

mellon is a man among boys here though, too bad he had a disappointing race at CC state.

ok guys, stop fighting about a 47 second split, and yes it is very very fast, remember that this is high school and some pro's run 45's (excluding the gods: Michael Johnson, jeremy wariner, lashawn merritt and the others)
oh and the HS state record for indiana is a 46.9, look it up

I guess timing of splits in a relay are subject to interpretation of when to start/stop the watch.
Are you implying that Mr. Mellon is not capable of a 47 sec 400 split?
What's YOUR best split in the 400?
