My work measuring latency requires an accurate clock. I could've bought one for thousands of dollars, but I decided to build my own from a $100 GPS, some old computer parts, and a couple of gallons of automatic transmission fluid.

-How did the board stay cool inside a sealed and insulated cooler? Did you use an electric cooler? (That is, did it have some sort of active cooling?)

-Is it important that the board's quartz clock be submerged? Is it important that any other components be submerged?

-Why transmission fluid, rather than say, mineral oil?

-Is there any particular type of transmission fluid I should use?

  • So I've build my own GPS/PPS disciplined NTP server, and I have some questions about the setup in this video. I've tried to get in contact with bobvan13 with no response, so I'm hoping someone else can answer my questions here.
